Ice Storm

WOW! We had a huge ice storm Thursday night. This morning, everything was just beautiful. All the trees look like they are made out of glass, and every where you look, it sparkles like diamonds. There are tiny little icicles all along all the power lines that look like fringe. Even my old dead tomato planes look like something special.

The neighbor's tree dropped a huge branch while I was outside. She came running out of the house in her pajamas to see if the branch had landed on the roof, that's how loud it sounded inside her house. The branch landed on her power line and broke it, so she came over to my house to call Com Ed. While she was walking back to her house, the same tree dropped another huge branch. BOOM! as my kid likes to say.

When I got home tonight, they still had no power. Com Ed has been working all night repairing damage. A big repair crew truck was cruising the street looking for the house (I guess) while I pulling into the driveway. They slowed down and looked at the house--the ONLY house in the neighborhood with not so much as a porch light, mind you--and then drove away. They saw me getting out of my car; you'd think they would ask me wher house number so-and-so was! But no, my neighbor will have to spend another day with no power. Nice.

While I do feel bad for her predicament, I had to snicker a little bit. That tree was shading my garden!
